Provider Hacks

Promoting the soft knowledge hacks, time-savers, and workarounds providers are practicing inside and outside of the clinic

A clinical hack refers to a skill, workaround, time-saver, or novel method to help enhance the efficiency of workflow or increase patient satisfaction.

By interviewing and shadowing physicians and advanced practice providers from across various departments at Penn Medicine, we have begun to uncover clinical hacks that help providers facilitate best practices and deliver exceptional care.  We've also discovered specific methods providers use to save time.

To date, we've collected more than 50 hacks in multiple domains including clinical care, patient satisfaction, and electronic health record (EHR) optimization.

We are currently in the process of developing a hack platform to make it easy for Penn Medicine providers to learn about the hacks their colleagues are using and share their own.
